This rock musical based in downtown L.A. was filmed by Spike Lee, but never produced here, until now

'Passing Strange,' a 20-year-old rock musical about a striving musician in downtown L.A. has gone to Broadway and been filmed by Spike Lee — but it has never been produced in SoCal. A highly anticipated revival at Pasadena Playhouse is changing that.
